Context: Historic Consumer Cooperative founded in 1921, with 1,354 members, a local reference point in the agricultural and retail sectors, with a long and solid tradition of proximity activities, renowned for the quality and affordability of the products and services provided..
With a century-long history of success and proximity activities behind it, in recent years, the cooperative has found itself facing the challenges and changes of scenarios that have modified and revolutionized the approach to work and the methodologies with which to carry it out. The need emerged to urgently manage innovation and modernization processes, while maintaining contact with the values of the cooperative tradition. There was also the need to optimize the operating model to support growth and face competition from shopping centers. In addition, a marked improvement in profitability was necessary in order to offer more value to members by investing in sustainable development and social responsibility projects.
The DoDo+ team proposed to the cooperative a set of strategic measures aimed at addressing the identified challenges by developing actions on the following points:
- Review and optimization of internal processes to achieve increased operational efficiency and service quality.
- Implementation of projects aimed at sustainable development such as the installation of photovoltaic panels and, specifically regarding catering activities, ethical ones, such as giving up slot machines and strengthening the services offered.
- Constant investment in human resources with an increase in job positions and renewal of collective contracts.
- Strengthening of the services offered and, as far as catering activities are concerned, the expansion of spaces to set up an area dedicated to state monopoly products.

The initiatives, launched in 2023, are still ongoing and are part of a growth and implementation plan for the coming years.
Results achieved
The strategic approach set for the cooperative immediately led to significant results such as:
- Increase in revenues of 6.53% compared to the previous year, with a consequent overall increase in turnover.
- Optimization of internal processes and improvement in operational efficiency.
- Increase in overall profit with a consequent recognition to members of a 2% rebate on purchases.
- Increase in job positions, greater investment in the territory and greater involvement in local associations.
Conclusions and future prospects
The Consumer Cooperative has demonstrated adaptability and innovation, while maintaining the fundamental values of service to the community and social responsibility.
Looking to the future, the cooperative will continue in the direction of sustainable growth by investing in ethical innovation, in efficiency and in the well-being of members and the local community. Being at the service of the customer does not only mean guaranteeing the quality and affordability of its products, but constantly providing complete and effective responses to the needs of members and the community.
