Generational transition, planning the stages of transferring responsibility and introduction of management control

Context: Italian company located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, operating in the precision mechanics sector. Turnover €2 million, of which less than 10% on the foreign market.

 Problem 

  • Ongoing generational transition.
  • Lack of a management control system.
  • Failure to use web marketing tools.
  • Personal guarantee provided by the partners to an institution for €800,000.
  • Never accessed non-repayable grants from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.

 Proposed solution 

  • Presence in the company of a Temporary Manager acting as a liaison between the founding partner and the new generation, who has mainly technical skills.
  • Study and drafting of the company budget.
  • Assistance to the Client in defining, developing and managing specific company improvement projects, specifically:

  1. Identification of short, medium and long-term objectives.
  2. Identification of a personalized growth path for the new generation.
  3. Training of the new generation on the fundamental principles of proper business management and direction.
  4. Definition of the entrepreneur's line of conduct towards both the new generation and the rest of the structure, in order to facilitate the successful outcome of the project.
  5. Study and installation of a management system that periodically provides the information necessary to control the company's profitability and financial balance.
  6. Creation of a new company website and an online marketing campaign in order to increase the company's visibility on the internet.
  7. Renegotiation of conditions and elimination of the guarantee provided by the partners.
  8. Obtaining a non-repayable grant for over €50,000.

 Results achieved 

In light of the success of the intervention, the future developments of the collaboration between DODO+ and the client include managerial training for the new generation and support for company growth for a further period of 1 year.
